Nova Science Education Advisors exists to make science accessible to every learner, in every classroom, from Kindergarten through 12th grade. We partner with educators and administrators to deliver high-quality professional development across Science, Career and Technology, Mathematics, and cross-curricular programs, equipping teachers with the confidence, skills, and resources to bring rigorous, engaging instruction to all students. We believe that when science is truly for everyone, we strengthen not just individual classrooms, but the fabric of our society. Through collaborative training, practical tools, and a commitment to educational equity, we empower the people who shape the next generation of scientific thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers.

Dr. Misty Heredia is a science educator and researcher passionate about expanding STEM access through professional learning communities. With over two decades of classroom experience teaching Biology, Chemistry, IPC, and Physics at all levels, she previously served as an Academic Science Content Coach with UTRGV's GEAR UP program, designing STEM opportunities for students and educators alike. She currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at UTRGV, teaching undergraduate courses for preservice teachers in Science, Curriculum and Assessment, and Theories of Learning, and conducts data analysis of school and state reports to inform instructional practice. Her research explores equity in science education, work she's shared at national conferences including NSTA, CAST, and ASTE. A recipient of multiple local and national awards, Dr. Heredia also brings national assessment expertise as an AP Physics Reader for the College Board.
Misty Heredia, Ed.D.
Science Education Advisor
Tessah Zepeda is a multidisciplinary education professional with 17 years of experience in secondary science education, forensic science, curriculum development, and Career and Technical Education (CTE). As CTE Department Head at Los Fresnos High School, she leads innovative, cross-curricular programming connecting forensic science with physics, biology, history, and mathematics, supports fellow educators through professional development, and helps prepare students for meaningful academic and career paths. A frequent presenter at STAT CAST and NSTA conferences and a two-time Los Fresnos High School Teacher of the Year, she holds a B.S. in Forensic Science (minors in Biology and Chemistry) from Baylor University and an M.Ed. in Career and Technical Education from Concordia University, Portland, and is a Texas-certified Science Composite educator for Grades 8â12. Her work centers on making learning meaningful and accessible, empowering students and educators to connect knowledge to real-world opportunities.
Tessah Zepeda, M.Ed.
Science Education Advisor
Kaylah Zepeda is an education and sports professional with experience spanning special education, program coordination, data analysis, and competitive volleyball officiating. She has worked with diverse teams and stakeholders to coordinate individualized programs, analyze performance data, improve processes, and support measurable outcomes, translating complex information into actionable strategies that balance the needs of individuals, teams, and organizations. She holds a Master's in Special Education from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies from Wiley University, and is Texas-certified to teach Special Education (Grades Kâ12) and Mathematics (Grades 4â8). Kaylah currently works as a Special Education Teacher and serves as a Volleyball Official for multiple organizations, bringing a collaborative, adaptable approach grounded in a genuine commitment to helping people and organizations grow and achieve meaningful results.
